David Adedeji Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, was born on November 21, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia. Davido is a Nigerian American music performer and recording artist, and record producer who moved to Lagos at a young age. Davido’s debut studio album called Omo Baba Olowo was released in 2011 and ‘Back When’ was his first ever recorded song. In the same year he co-produced and released the song ‘Dami Duro’ which became quite popular in Nigeria. The music video for Davido’s popular “Dami Duro” was released on January 8, 2012, however, before its official release the song was leaked and people were able to download Davido music from the internet. It was reported by Nigerian Entertainment Today that in April 2012 Davido signed a N30 million deal with MTN, which made him the face of MTN Pulse (marketing campaign for Nigerian youth). In October 2013, Davido was signed by Guinness Nigeria signed Davido in a deal as part of which Davido performed at the Guinness World of More Concert alongside the likes of P-Square, D’banj, Wizkid, Ice Prince, etc.
Davido music albums have been very popular among the Nigerian audience and the artist has many awards in his belt as well. The long list of his awards include a Kora Award, a Nigeria Music Video Award, a Ghana Music Award, a Channel O Music Video Award, two Dynamix All Youth Awards, three The Headies Awards and four Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
In February 2014, Davido released his fourth single “Aye”, and his fifth single “Tchelete (Goodlife)” in April 2014 from his upcoming album. Davido music albums are very famous among the Nigerian fans and Davido is one of the fast rising stars in the country.
